Northern California earthquake damage: Photos

(KRON) — A 7.0 earthquake struck in Humboldt County Thursday morning, triggering a tsunami warning, and being felt 350 miles away. The tsunami failed to materialize, and the warning was cancelled about an hour later.

The quake gave many Bay Area residents a good jolt and led to evacuations of beaches in San Francisco, and even the San Francisco Zoo.

Schools in Pacifica, Arcata and elsewhere was also evacuated.

While there were no reports of major damages or injuries in the Bay Area, further to the north, closer to the quake’s epicenter, the 7.0 tremblor left its mark on local businesses.

Evacuations were lifted shortly after the tsunami warning was lifted. BART service was also temporarily disrupted in the Transbay Tube but later resumed. In the aftermath of the quake, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a declaration of emergency for three counties.
