Strange drone activity spotted in New Jersey near Trump golf course

  • The FBI and local authorities are investigating the sightings
  • Residents have reported strange drone sightings since mid-November
  • The FAA has issued temporary flight restrictions for drones

(NewsNation) — Mysterious drones have been spotted in the night sky in New Jersey, prompting an FBI investigation and temporary flight restrictions from the FAA.

There have been multiple reports of strange aircraft activity near the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, as well as near an Army munitions hub in Dover, New Jersey.

The FBI and local law enforcement say they are investigating but have not provided an update on exactly where the drones are coming from

Residents in Morris County, New Jersey, have taken video of the drones at night. They have bright lights and appear in the sky only at night.

People in the area say the drones started appearing in mid-November, and the FBI said there could also be sightings of fixed-wing aircraft.

There is no evidence the drones are specifically targeting President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course, but the proximity has raised some concern.

Some of the drones are said to be as big as a car and are said to move slowly, appearing in the sky for anywhere between 15 minutes and multiple hours.

The FAA has imposed drone flight restrictions in the area while the investigation is ongoing, and police say there is no threat to public safety.
