Shreveport first responders collecting toys for children in need

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Operation Santa Claus’ annual toy drive is a longstanding tradition between Shreveport’s fire and police departments and Townsquare Media.

The operation is meant to bring holiday cheer to children in need in the local area.

This is the 40th annual toy drive for the humanitarian mission.

The kick-off event will be held at Townsquare Media, 6341 Westport Avenue, on Dec. 2 at 10:00 a.m. At the event, Santa Claus will arrive aboard a Shreveport Fire Engine and greet excited children who will receive special gifts from the jolly old guy before he returns to the North Pole.

The toy drive will last only 14 days, ending on Dec. 16. First responders will deliver toys to needy children on Dec. 18, 19, and 20.

If you would like to donate toys, bring your brand-new toys to any Bonvenu Bank location in Shreveport or drop them off at Townsquare Media, 6341 Westport Avenue. Monetary donations are also accepted. Checks should be made out to “Operation Santa Claus.”
