Presidential election in Idaho

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win Idaho.

US House races in Idaho

Two U.S. House seats will be decided, both with Republican incumbents. No Senate seats are open in Idaho this election.

Rep. Russ Fulcher takes on Democrat Kaylee Peterson in the 1st District. Rep. Mike Simpson faces Democrat David Roth in the 2nd District.

Statewide ballot measures in Idaho

A pair of election-related measures are on the Idaho ballot. One initiative would establish ranked choice voting, eliminating partisan primary elections in federal, state and local races. All candidates would participate in an open primary regardless of party, then the top four vote-getters would advance to the general election.

Another would amend the state constitution to prohibit noncitizens from voting in state and local elections.

On Tuesday, 468 seats in the U.S. Congress (33 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) are up for grabs. These elections will determine who has control over the two chambers of Congress, and ultimately, who sets the agenda for the next president’s term.

Idaho — which has four Electoral College votes  — is typically a strong red state in the presidential election. The presidential election winner must earn 270 Electoral College votes to assume office.

Early voting in Idaho started on Oct. 21, and polls for in-person voting will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time Tuesday.
