Florida authorities find missing 7-year-old boy dead

DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida deputies have found the missing 7-year-old boy out of Deltona dead in a body of water on Tuesday morning.

According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, the boy, Charlie, had autism and was non-verbal.


Charlie was last seen running north on Stillwater Avenue in Deltona on Monday around 8 p.m. after leaving his home, wearing a black T-shirt and white/grey shorts.

Volusia deputies deployed K-9s on the ground to assist in their search, as did air units. Surrounding agencies helped the sheriff’s office search throughout the night.

The search remained ongoing into Tuesday morning until officials canceled the missing child alert at 10:22 a.m.

“Our prayers go out to Charlie’s family, loved ones and community,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
