(NewsNation) — Police in Texas, are investigating a criminal network targeting cars parked at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
The Houston-based crime ring stole 52 cars, worth about $5 million. Police have identified at least 14 suspects, one of whom they arrested last month, a local NBC affiliate reported.
The alleged thieves used cloned key fobs and other technology to bypass security at Dallas Fort Wayne International Airport.
Similar thefts have been reported in places like Texas, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada.
DFW International Airport police said they’re in contact with local, state and federal authorities.
Overall, thefts at the airport have declined by about 40%.
