Baby dies from meth toxicity in Colorado, 2 suspects arrested

DENVER (KDVR) — A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after a 2-month-old died from alleged methamphetamine toxicity in late July, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

Police said on July 26, officers were called to a home in the 500 block of Vance Street for a report of an unresponsive infant.


A 2-month-old, Ezra, was found at the house. He died a short time later.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office determined that Ezra died from methamphetamine toxicity.

Ezra’s mother, 31-year-old Lisa Marie Johnson and her boyfriend, 33-year-old Alexander Avila were arrested.

Both are currently in the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of committing first-degree murder.
