Ashley Benefield, known as the “Black Swan Murderer,” has been sentenced to 20 years in a Florida state prison, followed by 10 years of probation, for killing her husband, Doug Benefield, in 2020. Prosecutors argued she killed Doug to gain custody of their child, claiming the act was premeditated. Ashley, however, insisted she shot him in self-defense against alleged abuse — a claim the jury largely rejected after a six-day trial.
