Black Friday sales break records; Cyber Monday set to follow

(NewsNation) — Black Friday e-commerce sales were up nearly 15% over last year, according to a Mastercard SpendingPulse survey.

U.S. retail sales also increased by 3.4% compared to Black Friday in 2023. Online sales increased 14.6%, and in-person sales went up by 0.7%.

Jewelry, appliances, and apparel were among the foremost items bought on Black Friday, per the survey.

On Black Friday, there was $10.8 billion in revenue, according to Adobe Analytics, up $1 billion compared to 2023.

Cyber Monday sales are expected to hit $13.2 billion, a 6% increase on last year, via The Associated Press.

“We have Cyber Monday but then also Tuesday is well-known as Travel Tuesday. That’s where you’re going to be able to find those travel deals,” retail insights and savings expert Stephanie Carls told “NewsNation Now.”

“So, this is going to be an exciting day, an exciting week,” Carls added.
