When she saw texts from an unknown woman, the victim said that Atkins got upset and woke him up.

When he did, Atkins allegedly had a knife and began swinging at him. The victim was cut once on his left hand, once on his left arm and once on his left shoulder.

Both Atkins and the victim were brought to Felony Response for further investigation.

The victim told investigators that he and Atkins had been dating for about six years and repeated the story he told officers on the scene.

When Atkins spoke with investigators, she said that while the victim was asleep, she noticed his phone was receiving text messages. When she looked at his phone, she saw they were from an unknown woman.

According to the police report, she admitted to getting upset, waking up the victim and grabbing a knife. She also confessed to swinging it at the victim and cutting him an unknown number of times before he took her phone, called police and left the apartment.

Atkins has been charged with aggravated assault and given a $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday.
