WASHINGTON (NewsNation) — One of the biggest UFO mysteries of the last several years has been solved, according to the Pentagon.

The object was recorded flying at a high speed not far above the water by a fighter jet from the USS Theodore Roosevelt off the east coast of Florida in 2016. It would go on to be known as the ‘GOFAST’ video when it was made public in 2017.

Dr. Jon Kosloski, the director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), told Congress on Tuesday the object wasn’t actually as close to the water as appears in the video.

“Through a very careful geospatial intelligence analysis and using trigonometry, we assess with high confidence that the object is not actually close to the water, but is rather closer to 13,000 feet,” Kosloski said.

While he did not identify the object, Kosloski said the parallax effect — a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight — gave the object an extraordinary appearance.
