BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A tale of love blossoms inside a Bossier City nursing facility
where a couple that proves it is never too late to find your special person.
Mr. Donald Farmer walks down the aisle alongside his nurse and friend, Toni Chandler as he awaits his bride.
“Their both sweet, kind, compassionate,” Chandler said.
Mrs. Georgia McWilliams is escorted down the aisle by her friend and administrator of Pilgrim Manor where the senior couple got married.
“Companionship at any age is awesome but to see it here in this setting, it’s something to celebrate. It’s special,” said James Almond, Administrator of Pilgrim Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
In front of an excited crowd, the couple said their “I do’s”
“It just hit his heart. He says I love you. And I said I love you too,” McWilliams said.
The star-crossed lovers met in the dining room of their nursing facility.
“He makes me feel beautiful, wonderful and at peace. Truly loved,” McWilliams said.
Both a widow and a widower, they found each other in a place they thought would be the end of their lives. Instead igniting a new chapter of tomorrows.
“It seems like y’all couldn’t wait to get to the kissing part,” inquired photographer Tony Neal. “No we couldn’t. And we’re not through yet,” McWilliams replied.
Their wedding bringing joy to residents of the nursing facility and their families in attendance.
Including Mrs. McWilliam’s granddaughter who caught the bouquet.
“She threw it to me on purpose. She was aiming for me. But I guess that means I’m next,” said Madyson Sanders, Georgia’s granddaughter.
The couple reminding everyone of the power of love, no matter any age. As they both are diagnosed with forms of cancer, it won’t stop them from being happy together until the end.
“We both knew what the illness would do. So we’ll just spend the rest of our days together. As long as we have,” Farmer said.
