Here are the key races that haven’t been called yet

(NewsNation) — It has been one week since President-elect Donald Trump was projected to win a second term in the White House. However, the outcomes of some other hotly contested races remained unclear as of Tuesday morning.

Republicans captured both the House and the Senate this election cycle, ending their four-year stretch in the Senate’s minority and extending their majority in the House.

Still, the remaining races could determine how large of a majority the Republicans will hold over Democrats in Congress.  

Here are the key congressional races still too close to call:

US Senate races

Pennsylvania

Republican David McCormick is challenging Democrat incumbent Sen. Bob Casey Jr. in a race that could influence which party controls the Senate. 

House races

Alaska

Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola, the first Alaskan Native woman to represent the state in Congress, is seeking reelection to Alaska’s only at-large congressional district. 

Peltola — who won her 2022 race against former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — faces Republican Eric Hafner, Democrat Nicholas “Nick” Begich and Alaskan Independence Party Rep. John Howe.

California

California voters will elect 52 candidates to serve in the U.S. House.

Results of the state’s 13th, 45th and 47th Congressional District races were still underway Tuesday morning.
