Bush and first lady Laura Bush, attends an event to welcome the 2022 NBA champion Golden State Warriors to the East Room of the White House in Washington, Tuesday, Jan 17, 2023. The former first daughter, very quietly in deference to her desire to keep many details of her life private, has worked for the NBA for the past year after connecting with the league during the pandemic on some health-related and social justice initiatives. The league has now announced that Bush was recently promoted to lead its social responsibility department, helping oversee initiatives surrounding racial justice, public service, health matters including mental health, community partnerships and more. (NewsNation) — Barbara Bush says she spent part of last weekend campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris.
“It was inspiring to join friends and meet voters with the Harris-Walz campaign in Pennsylvania this weekend,” former President George W. Bush’s daughter said in an exclusive statement to People. “I’m hopeful they’ll move our country forward and protect women’s rights.”
The former president’s office previously said he and his wife, Laura, would not endorse this election, noting that he retired from politics years ago.
NewsNation reached out to his office Tuesday to see if there was any comment about his daughter’s actions.
Several of Bush’s former White House officials, most notably then Vice President Dick Cheney, have said they will vote for Harris.
