(NewsNation) — Indiana voters will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in some pivotal races in the 2024 general election, including the race for governor.

Presidential race in Indiana

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win Indiana.

Indiana is a term-limited state, meaning Gov. Eric Holcomb is not eligible for reelection after serving eight years.

Republican Sen. Mike Braun is projected to win the governor’s race in Indiana.

Republican Sen. Mike Braun rose to the top of the GOP ticket after defeating five other challengers in the primary election. Braun is running against former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick, who ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.

US Senate race in Indiana

Republican Rep. Jim Banks is projected to win the Senate seat previously held by Braun.

With Braun entering the race for governor, Republican Rep. Jim Banks, Democrat and clinical psychologist Dr. Valerie McCray and Libertarian Andrew Horning ran for his Senate seat.

Race for Indiana Attorney General

In another statewide race, incumbent state Republican Attorney General Todd Rokita, is challenged by Democrat Destiny Wells, a combat veteran and attorney who ran unsuccessfully for Secretary of State in 2022.

Statewide ballot measure in Indiana

Indiana voters have one ballot measure to consider this Tuesday. If approved, it would remove the Superintendent of Public Instruction from being sixth in line to succeed the governor. The position, last held by McCormick, no longer exists.

US House races in Indiana

Democrat Frank Mrvan is projected to continue to represent Indiana’s 1st Congressional District.

On Tuesday, 468 seats in the U.S. Congress (33 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) are up for grabs. These elections will determine who has control over the two chambers of Congress, and ultimately, who sets the agenda for the next president’s term.

Early voting began Oct. 8. Polls will open at 6 am and close at 6 p.m. local time on Election Day. Indiana holds 11 electoral votes and has been reliably red.

The Hoosier State — which carries 11 Electoral College votes — is typically a Republican stronghold in presidential elections. The last time it went blue was in 2008 for former President Barack Obama.
